CURATED PROJECTS
2010
DEADPAN, The Royal Standard, Liverpool
With a good glug of irony and a sarcastic nod, DEADPAN gave a kick up the arse to an utter mess of an art world at a point of oversaturisation by questioning strategies used by artists to make new work. Considering mimicry and the referential alongside the blatency of homage, DEADPAN presented with barefaced cheek a 'pastichised' viewpoint of art with lampooning consequences; providing a glimpse into the dirty world of satire within contemporary art today.

Black Smoke Machine Gun Club, The Royal Standard, Liverpool

SALE, The Royal Standard, Liverpool
SALE transformed the white walled galleries at The Royal Standard into an an 'Art Superstore' stocked with hundreds of artworks by over 80 artists from across the UK and beyond. With constant special offers and fluctuating prices, SALE helped to tempt the gallery visitor into buying that 'must have' artwork. Utilising retail systems and language more commonly found in the supermarket and in turn questioning the nature of the commercial art world and how it functions.

NAVIGATOR, The Royal Standard, Liverpool
The inaugural exhibition in the Royal Standard's new home drew on the organisation's relocation to the periphery of the city centre.
